Thursday, May 9, 2019 - John Deneen, junior at South St. Paul Secondary, earned perfect score of 36 on the ACT test.
Deneen took his first ACT test after his freshman year as a test run and scored 35 out of 36. “I decided to take it again to try to get 36, but didn’t really expect it,” Deneen shared. “I was literally jumping up and down with excitement.”
Deneen is involved in choir and is currently pursuing the IB Diploma, taking rigorous courses in English, Science and Math. He shared that the IB English classes have helped prepare him for the test.
Deneen plans to study chemistry after high school and pursue the path to medical school. In 2018, only 3,741 out of more than 1.9 million graduates who took the ACT earned a top composite score of 36. The ACT tests students in English, Reading, Math and Science. ACT scores are accepted by all major four-year colleges and universities across the U.S.
