South St. Paul Public Schools is excited to welcome Courtney Karas as our new Assistant Director of Student Services. Courtney will be stepping into the role that has been vacant since December, when Jennifer Danielson transitioned to the Executive Director position. While her office will be at the District Office, she will be working alongside all of the buildings in the district, supporting students, staff, and families in ensuring students are receiving a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in their Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).

Courtney brings with her 13 years of experience, including being a special education teacher at the secondary level. She has also served as a social behavior services coordinator and a special education coordinator. Through the interview process, we were impressed with her direct classroom experience, her focus on collaboration between general education and special education, and her experience building systems that better support students and staff.

Courtney is passionate about student success and coming up with creative ways to engage students in school. Please join us in warmly welcoming Courtney Karas to the South St. Paul community.
