School Board Vacancy Filled and Special Election Planned
South St. Paul Public Schools is excited to announce the addition of Kim Humann to the SSPPS Board of Education. Kim was chosen by the board after an application and interview process. She will be sworn in at the meeting on August 14, 2023. Kim is filling a vacancy left by the sudden passing of Board Member Bernie Beermann earlier this year. She will serve until a special election is held this November.
Details of Filling to Run in Special Election
The South St. Paul Public Schools is holding a special School Board election on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, to fill the vacancy that resulted from the unexpected passing of Bernie Beermann. The candidate elected on November 7 will fill the remainder of Mr. Beermann’s term that expires January 2027.

- Filing Period Closes: Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 5:00 PM
- Filing Location: SSP City Hall (125 – 3rd Avenue North)
- Filing Cost: $2
A candidate for this office must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more on assuming office, must have been a resident of the School District from which the candidate seeks election for thirty (30) days before the special election, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same election.
