CLC Interdisciplinary Unit: Learning to Work as a Team
The Community Learning Center (CLC) uses Interdisciplinary Units to help students connect the dots between math, science, art, and history. With Interdisciplinary Units students explore the different subject areas under one theme. Recently students participated in interdisciplinary lessons concentrated on team building and building courage and resilience in the face of adversity.
In math, students had to work together using angles and cylinders to get a marble from one place to another. In Social Studies, they worked on developing courage and facing fears. In Science, it was all about the opposable thumb and whether (or not?) we truly do need it. These lessons and others culminated with a trip to Base Camp on Friday April 28th, where students were able to learn archery and rock climbing, and participate in intense team building activities.
