2022-23 Transportation Update

South St. Paul Public Schools is currently working through transportation routes and assignments for all students eligible for District-provided transportation. Elementary students who live one-mile or more from their assigned school, and secondary students who live 1.5 miles or more from their assigned school, are eligible for District-provided transportation. Families who have students transitioning from elementary to the secondary building (i.e., grade 5 to grade 6), should note the eligibility change. Families should watch their mail in late August for their student’s bus pass postcard.

Families living outside of the District-provided transportation boundaries noted above, can request to be placed on a waitlist for Pay-to-Ride transportation. Safe-Way Bus Company will offer families a Pay-to-Ride option on a first-come, first-served basis if space is available after all District-provided transportation needs have been met. Pay-to-Ride opportunities, especially at SSP Secondary, may not be determined until October 1 or later. As seats become available, waitlist families will be contacted in the order the Pay-to-Ride Agreements are received. Families wishing to be placed on the Pay-to-Ride waitlist, should complete the Pay-to-Ride Agreement and return to Erika Ryan at eryan@sspps.org or 104 – 5th Avenue South, South St. Paul, MN 55075. Pay-to-Ride payment will be collected if and when seat availability is confirmed.
