Technology Update: March 5, 2024
SSPPS Families,
We want to provide you with an update on the recent technology disruptions we are experiencing and provide you with information the district can now confirm regarding what happened and steps we are taking to resolve it.
Yesterday, the district was made aware of unauthorized activity within our computer network that affected our systems and operations. Immediately upon discovering the unusual activity within our network, we took our systems offline to isolate the issue. We then engaged a third-party cybersecurity firm to assist us with systems recovery and investigate the cause and scope of the unauthorized activity. At this time, the investigation remains ongoing. Currently our primary focus is on restoring all systems and helping students and staff maintain a dynamic and productive learning environment. As the investigation and restoration efforts remain ongoing, we will continue to provide further information as it becomes available.
Upcoming Student Family Connect Days
- Middle School Student-Family Connect Days scheduled for Wednesday March 6 have been rescheduled for Thursday, April 25. Watch for more information from the Middle School on this reschedule.
- Elementary Student-Family Connect Days scheduled for Wednesday, March 6 (4:00 – 8:00 PM) and Thursday, March 7 (12:00 – 8:00 PM) will continue as normal.
Lastly, over the past year, our district has made significant strides in fortifying our security protocols and implementing robust measures to safeguard our digital infrastructure. While we have proactively taken steps to create a secure online environment, we also acknowledge that cyber threats are unfortunately a part of the world we live in. Please be assured that the security and the integrity of our systems are paramount priorities for us. We remain committed to fostering a safe and secure digital environment for our students, staff, and families. As we continue to navigate the complex landscape of cybersecurity, we appreciate your understanding, support, and patience.
