Young Authors Conference

Students from Kaposia and Lincoln Elementary Schools had a unique opportunity to explore their creativity and experience college life firsthand last week at the Young Authors Conference hosted at Bethel University.

Fourth and fifth grade students submitted an application and writing sample to attend. During the conference, students spent the day on a college campus, choosing from a variety of sessions led by professional Minnesota authors. Offerings spanned a wide range of creative disciplines, including poetry, spoken word, journalism, short stories, memoirs, playwriting, and songwriting. The sessions allowed students to refine their skills, explore new forms of expression, and learn directly from experienced writers.

In addition to workshops, the event featured an open mic session where students had the chance to share their own work with peers. It was an opportunity for students to highlight their creativity and build confidence in their voices as young authors.

The trip was made possible thanks to the support of the South St. Paul Educational Foundation.
