Craftsy Club- Creating Safe Spaces to Unwind After School

The Middle School Craftsy Club offers students a safe and welcoming space to unwind after the school day. Every Monday and Wednesday, Room B-214 transforms into Craftsy Corner, a creative hub where students can relax, connect, and express themselves through hands-on projects.

Founded by Student Support Specialist Mrs. Charmaine Coleman, the club provides students with a positive outlet to manage stress while learning skills like crocheting, sewing, and other crafts. Over time, it has become much more than a place to make art, it’s a community that fosters confidence, creativity, and connection among students. The club relies on donated materials to keep creativity flowing and is currently in need of fabric, crochet hooks (sizes G–J), poly-fill, and batting for small quilts. Those interested in donating can contact Mrs. Coleman at ccoleman@sspps.org.

Craftsy Corner is one of several after-school clubs available to South St. Paul Middle School students in grades 6–8. Other options include Art Club, Anime Club, Math Team, Tabletop Role-Play Club, and affinity groups such as Comunidad de Latinos Unidos, Black Lives Matter, and the Gay-Straight Alliance. Each club offers a safe, inclusive space for students to explore their interests, build friendships, and find their place in the Packer community.

If your SSP Middle School student is interested in joining any of the after-school clubs, they can ask their Connections teacher for information.
