CLC Students Explore Global Issues During Model UN Week
CLC students recently stepped into the roles of world leaders during the second trimester X-term “Model UN” experience. X-term is a weeklong, hands-on learning experience designed to engage students in creative, real-world problem-solving that takes place during the week between trimesters. By participating in X-term, students have a chance to earn credits towards graduation. For this X-term, students represented countries from around the globe in a hands-on simulation focused on international cooperation and problem-solving.
Each student selected a country to represent and participated in a variety of group activities designed to mirror real-world global challenges. Working together, students discussed ways to adapt to climate change, selected a host country for the World Cup, drafted treaties aimed at peaceful solutions to conflict, and explored strategies to address world hunger.
In addition to collaborative work, students also completed individual activities, developing solutions for unique issues facing the countries they represented. The experience encouraged critical thinking, research, and collaboration while helping students better understand the complexities of global decision-making.
The week concluded with the “CLC Olympics,” where students formed five teams and competed in a series of lighthearted games, including balloon volleyball, ping pong, and pizza box folding. The event provided a fun and energetic way to celebrate the teamwork and learning that took place throughout X-term.
