Adult Basic Education provides adults in Northern Dakota County with educational opportunities to acquire and improve literacy skills in order to become self-sufficient, proud employees, family members, and citizens. All classes are FREE.
ABE offers the following classes:- English Language Learning (ELL)
ELL classes are designed for adults who are new to the English language and U.S. culture. Instruction focuses on communication for everyday life, such as the workplace, for all levels of English speakers. Skills include reading, writing, speaking and listening. - GED Preparation Courses
GED prep courses are FREE for community members wanting to take the GED examination. Classes are offered at a variety of times and locations throughout northern Dakota County. - Basic Skills Courses
Do you want to brush-up on your skills for school or work? Classroom opportunities are available for native and foreign-born community members. Instruction is personalized and based on the goals of each learner. Basic skills courses offer classes in the following areas:- Grammar, punctuation, and writing
- Fractions, percents, and decimals
- Reading fluency and comprehension
- Preparation for college or technical school
- Preparation for the workforce
- English Language Learning (ELL)
