South St. Paul Public Schools has a long and successful history we are proud to share. The district serves approximately 3,700 students in the City of South St. Paul in two elementary schools (prek-5), a secondary school (6-12), an alternative learning center (9-12), a Family Education Center (birth-5) and an adult basic education. If you have moved to our community, we want to ensure that you receive information about early childhood screenings and kindergarten registration at the appropriate time. Please complete the school census form so that the district could inform you of programs such as:
- Early Childhood Family Education classes for both parent and child,
- Early Childhood Screening (required by law before kindergarten attendance)
- School Readiness Program
- Kindergarten Registration
Our preschool program receives the highest rating in the Parent Aware Rated Program.

A child is eligible for kindergarten if he or she will be 5 years old on or before September 1 of the year he or she will begin school.
Kindergarten Registration Night for the 2019-20 school year will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at both elementary schools. Visit the kindergarten enrollment page for information about:

Note: Non-resident families wishing to open enroll into kindergarten must apply for open enrollment and be accepted prior to registering for kindergarten.
