Dr. Dave Webb has been the Superintendent of South St. Paul Public Schools (SSPPS) since August of 2010. South St. Paul Public Schools, Minnesota’s First Public K-12 IB World Schools District, is a first ring suburb with 3,700 students.
Dr. Webb strongly believes that technology is an integral part of the educational experience for every child. Through Dave’s vision, the SSP Board of Education approved a plan to purchase an Apple iPad or a Google Chromebook for each student grades 6-12 as well as having technology carts available in each grade at the elementary level. The addition of these devices has significantly enhanced learning opportunities for students and staff.
Additionally, the District partnered with business and community organizations to place one SMART board in every classroom throughout the District. By combining Apple iPads, Google Chromebooks and SMART board technology, SSPPS has the tools to effectively prepare all students for the 21st century.
Through Dave’s leadership, SSPPS graduated its first class this spring, with students eligible to receive three diplomas. By working to solidify an agreement with Inver Hills Community College, South St. Paul students pursuing SSP Secondary’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program can earn credits at both institutions simultaneously and graduate from high school with an associate degree without ever stepping foot on a college campus or paying for a college class. This means students have the opportunity to earn a high school diploma, an IB Diploma and an Associate degree by the end of their senior year of high school. With rising college tuition costs throughout the nation, Dr. Webb is pleased that the partnership will provide both academic and financial benefits to students who attend SSPPS.
Prior to coming to South St. Paul, Dave served as an administrator at Fridley High School (FHS), a Global Studies Magnet School. Dave was instrumental in FHS receiving Middle Years and Diploma Programme authorization from the International Baccalaureate Organization.
Prior to his administrative experience, Dave worked as a high school Spanish teacher. He also served as the Dean of the Spanish Language Village and Spain Abroad Program Leader for Concordia College. Dave completed his B.A., M.A. and Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. The focus of Dave’s dissertation was participatory leadership. Dave, his wife Julie, and their four children reside in Shoreview, Minnesota.
