Your Voice Matters
SSPPS Staff Engagement
Engaging all voices in the work of the district is critical to the future success of SSPPS. We are committed to finding a variety of ways to gather input and feedback from all stakeholders, including all SSPPS staff members, to ensure that we are moving forward together in our mission to "ignite a passion in every learner to inquire, continuously improve and engage in positively changing our world."
In an effort to help focus its work on improving student outcomes and building high performing teams, the district launched a new online engagement platform in January 2019 called ThoughtExchange. The goal is to have this be a forum in which all SSPPS staff have the opportunity to share insights and engage with one another about topics that impact the district.
ABOUT THOUGHT EXCHANGE
ThoughtExchange is not a survey, but rather an online, two-way conversation. Participation is about not only sharing thoughts or ideas in response to an open-ended question, but also seeing and rating the thoughts of colleagues.
HOW IT WORKS
ThoughtExchange operates like a three-step process in the span of a two- to three-week period:
- SHARE - First, individuals share a thought or idea in answer to the open-ended questions posed.
- STAR - Participants then review the thoughts of others, and star thoughts which they resonate and agree.
- DISCOVER - The final phase allows everyone to see the results of the exchange, including which thoughts were rated highest and what themes emerge. This sharing of results is intended to provide accountability and transparency of the results to participants.
February 2019 Staff ThoughtExchange
(Exchange Window: Feb. 6-15, 2019)Even though SSP Schools is not looking to make budget cuts for next year, we are always looking at ways to improve outcomes. To that end, we know that there may be some new programs or services we need to add in order to improve student achievement and meet our 5% improvement goals in math, reading and IB.Keep in mind that the district’s budget parameters require we maintain a balanced budget. So if you identify something to ADD, you must also identify something to REDUCE.SO … what ideas do you have for redesigning, reducing or finding new revenue opportunities as we build our budget for next year and beyond?
